#25 John Vanderkemp

Assistant Coach

NUMBER RETIRED 2006

Born and raised in Powell River, John has earned legend status as a Regal and in the town’s hockey community. Short of players earlier this season, John suited up for the club in five games, making it 25 consecutive years he has pulled over the Regal jersey. He has played more games and more years than any Regal ever. Known as the most consistent and reliable blue liner in his career, John also helps with the defenceman for the communities BCHL Kings. His leadership qualities will be a welcome addition to the Regals coaching staff this season, as Powell River goes looking for their 3rd Allan Cup and 4th National Championship. John is sure to see his number 25 raised to the rafters in the near future. Before the semi-final of the 2006 Allan Cup the Regals retired John's #25. He joins Bob Crawford (#3), Mike Andrews (#14) and Tod English (#12) as the only Regals to have their numbers in the rafters.
